How To Make Your Own Healthy Chai Tea Latte

I love Starbuck's Chai Tea Lattes so much. Unfortunately it is not the healthiest of drinks. A grande sized Chai Tea Latte at Starbucks has 42 grams of sugar which is just crazy. I have been making an effort to be healthier, so in that vain I have been avoiding drinks that are high in sugar. Which led me to seek out ways to make this drink myself in a much healthier way. I came across a YouTube channel called VasseurBeauty that had this awesome recipe that I am about to share with you. I gave it a shot, and I was very pleased with how it turned out. Here is how to make a healthy chai tea latte.

Ingredients

16 oz of water

1 cup of almond or soy milk

A dash of half and half

3 chai tea black tea bags

A cap full of vanilla extract

2 teaspoons of honey

A dash of cinnamon

Directions

Fill a small pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once the water is boiled, drape the 3 tea bags over the pot so that the bags are in the water steeping. Let it steep for 3 minutes.

While the tea is steeping pour the honey, cinnamon, and vanilla extract into your drink container of choice. I used a carafe, because I plan to drink the latte over the course of a couple days instead of all in one sitting. Once the tea is done steeping pour that inside the container as well. Let it cool down in the fridge.

Once it has finished cooling pour in your milk and half and half.

I served it over ice in a nice mug. I think it turned out really good. I used Coconut Almond milk in mine. I immediately noticed that it wasn't very sweet, but I think that is because I am used to the sweetness of the version from Starbucks. Without all the sugar, you can taste more of the chai spices. However, I find that flavor to be really good so I don't mind that at all. When I make it again I may add a tiny bit more honey and perhaps a little less milk. You can play around with the ingredients to get your perfect blend. All in all, I was happy with how this turned out, and I think it will make an awesome healthy alternative to the Starbucks version. Now I can enjoy the chai flavor I love without the guilt.
