Before you tell me, I know we filed this piece on cash back programs under LifeHacks
. We know, but isn’t cash back just about the best hack? We tend to think so – especially if it comes to your account automatically and you do not have to remember to write in for a manufacturer rebate. To that end, today we are looking at cash back programs we really like:
Ebates is one of the oldest, most established, and well run of the online cash back programs. You’ll notice it has a slick user friendly design as well as a huge range of merchants. Among their partners are some of the most popular online shopping destinations such as Amazon, Ebay, Groupon, Sephora, Macy's, and so much more. When you go to these sites via the Ebates site or app you will be perceived by the destination site as being sent from Ebates. If you make a purchase on the site at that time then you will be eligible for money back on your purchase. How much money back? Well, that depends on the site you are buying from. When you login to Ebates and look up a partner website it will tell you what percentage of money back you can get for that given site.
The money you get back will come from Ebates directly. In your account screen you can see exactly how much you have earned to date. You can also personalize your account by noting what your favorite stores are. That way Ebates will provide you with updates, coupons, and promo codes for your favorites. Once you have shopped and earned cash back you can get your money either via check or via your Paypal account. Ebates will send you the payments quarterly. You don't have to do anything. It is a pretty simple process, making it one of our favorite cash back programs.
Backed by Sallie May this one is a little it of a different slant on the cash back program. Earnings here are primarily focused on either help you save for college or to pay down student loans. For any of us carrying a balance this is a nice way to work it off without thinking about it.
Those are some of our favorites but if you really want to dig deeper on the subject here is a great piece on it from The Krazy Coupon Lady
